Signs of Fall

Date: 10/26/2010

Number: 1

We have had rain for the past two days because cold fronts are pushing our way. The temperature today is 75 degrees F and the sky is filled with clouds. The colors of the leaves have changed more this week as compared to our last report. We are seeing more yellow, red, and orange colors. We also saw some leaves falling to the ground during our observation. From our last report, we have an update on the oak tree. The oak had a little orange color, only a little at the top, two weeks ago. Today we saw that the oak tree had lost some of the leaves at the top and the orange color is further down the tree. We saw an interesting insect. We think it was a cicada killer wasp. It landed on a shoe and was cleaning its abdomen. There were very few mammals and birds out today. We saw a small flock of birds but don’t know the species.
