Last week, temps. remained in the 60's through Thursday (10/28) but just one monarch showed up in the garden, on 10/25. The next morning (10/26) I found a dead monarch, bleached and tattered, inside the garden gate - and that's it for the season. Our last active butterflies have been tiny "American Coppers." Fiver or six were active until yesterday (10/31) in a patch of asters, but a severe cold front and strong NW winds will now end their season. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
