Signs of Fall

Date: 11/02/2010

Number: 1

We have had one of the warmest falls on record. Last week, we had a brief return to cool temperatures, followed by a return this week to warmer-than-normal temperatures. Perhaps 40% of leaves have not fallen yet, and perennial flowers in our flower beds are starting to bloom again. By this time, last year, all of our leaves had fallen and snow remained on the ground. We still have a lot of green out there. The deer and elk hunting seasons were bad here because the animals had not yet come down from higher elevations due to warmer weather and a lack of mountain snow. Few birds are here now, a good sign that things are changing soon.
