Today sixty-eight second graders planted 100 tulip bulbs in front of our school. The garden site we chose was on the east side and is mostly sunny with a little shade. The soil was very dry, but we could easily dig the holes. Before we planted we mixed bone meal in the ground, and most of the student planted their bulbs in groups of three about 5 inches apart. When we were finished planting, we covered the garden with a layer of dry leaves and then pine mulch. We can't wait until spring!
