Leaves are in good color now. Most of the Washington, DC area has had a frost in the last week but I live on the Potomac river(about 3 miles wide here) which acts as a heat resevoir and keeps my yard warmer so I haven't yet. A neighbor just cleaned out his fence row unfortunately. It was filled with berries that the wild birds rely on for winter food. His resident mockingbird sits on a dead, burned out sapling looking glum--normally it is busy protecting its food cache from other birds this time of year. More blue jays have moved in and the bald eagles have migrated south--I have bald eagles year round but the spring/summer eagles are not the same as the fall/winter eagles.
