I was visiting my friend in Atlantic Beach, FL the third week of October and saw a pair of monarchs (male and female) in his yard (which is extensively gardened with tropical milkweed). Soon after my arrival, I caught the female basking in the late afternoon sunlight, on one of the fronds of a Canary Island date palm in the front yard, sweet! My observation time: I was watching for _0__ hours and _5__ minutes.
