Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/15/2010

Number: 1

Our 2nd graders planted 100 bulbs in our new garden! Mrs. Vellegas'6th grader turned the soil for us and they made rows so we knew where to plant. We measured and dug 7 inched deep and 4 inches apart. We were all very close to each other and some people accidentally shoveled dirt on other people. Nobody really cared and it was a lot of fun. We found tons of old roots in our garden and at first we thought they were pipes. We found grubs and worms in our dirt and saw a mockingbird hanging around to watch. It started to drizzle and we knew that was a good sign for our bulbs to get water. We took the temperature of the soil and it was 50 degrees F and the air was 55 degrees F. We covered our bulbs with a net and then put huge rocks all around to keep the squirrels away.Good luck little bulbs!
