We were not in the building the last two weeks of November to plant so planted the first available days in December. It took three planting periods from 12/1/10-12/3/10. Clay soil which has had other plants so not too horrible for digging yet it has lots of roots. Heavy rains the days before. Soil not too soggy so it drains well. Dug long trenches and measured as we went both from the soil line and between bulbs. Watered when through.
