Signs of Fall

Date: 12/16/2010

Number: 1

We are a third grade class in San Diego. It was cold for us this morning and raining! A few days ago it was 80 degrees F and now it is 50 degrees F. The leaves on the trees are turning wonderful colors this year. Outside our class we have some Sweet Gums and they are yellow. orange, red and purple. We made leave rubbings of the leaves and learned that they are all palmate, tooth-edged, simple leaves. The birds are really visiting our class bird feeders (gold finch, house finch, mourning doves, ravens, house sparrows, and crows. We even had a golden eagle hang out around our school for three days!!!!
