Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 12/27/2010

Number: 1

I watched the Monarchs lay their eggs in my flower bed this past fall. I covered the bed for the winter which makes sort of a green house. Christmas day I went in to check out my flowers and have found Monarchs coming out of their cocoons. Now, I don't know what to do. Will they die if I let them out? Should I keep them in and feed them sugar water until the spring? Tonight a cocoon that I found on the ground hatched right before my eyes! How amazing! Does anyone know what I should do? My observation time: I was watching for _2__ hours and ___ minutes.
