This is no mistake! I've grown up in this region and have never seen or heard of a robin in January. There were 3 robins total in the apple blossom tree next to my garage when we arrived home from school. One of them flew down and perched on my snow covered garbage can only 10 feet away from where I stood. He stayed there for several seconds while we all got a chance to see him. He flew back to the tree where they perched and then all flew NORTH at the same time. In this area it is unusual to us.
