Yesterday (01/22) I hiked around the area where redwings will be arriving in their own good time. None of them yet BUT white-crowned sparrows were singing spring songs and I noted that some of the willows are already putting out tiny green leaves and have catkins. Also lots of flying gnat-type insects. No doubt all this is related to the unseasonably warm sunny weather.
