1/21/11 Walking along a snowy street in the neighborhood, I noticed a group of 12 or so robins perched in a small tree. I had never seen/noticed robins in winter until this day. All were quite round and chubby.
1/27/11 Shoveling a foot of snow in front of my house, I spotted a robin in a tree. It had a short scuffle with a black bird, too small for a starling. Each settled at a distance on separate branches. I did not know that robins overwintered, having not seen any until this year, except in early spring and summer.
