Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/25/2011

Number: 1

On Tuesday, January 25, 2011 my husband and I looked out the window of our home and saw about 100 robins touch down in about 2 feet of snow in our back yard and quickly retreat to the nearest tree which happens to be a red maple. They appeared to be rather surprised as they sat on the branches all puffed out with their snow covered red breasts. We have seen them daily about 4:00-5:00PM for a short time, as they seem to dart across our property and then retreat to the wooded area behind our home. We are concerned since we have had record snow this season and food is scarce. We have been in this home for 30 yrs. and we always expect at least 200 robins to land in our back field
in late March, however, never at this time of year. Do you think that this flock never migrated or did they come back early? Is there a way to help feed them. Thank you Gail Benson
