Report dated October 8 and submitted January 28
Gibbs Butterfly park has seen a tripling in the number of butterflies this year. We have had local butterflies all year. Oct.we had our first roost of over 100 butterflies, they flew in from the north and stayed for 4 days, then went on. I was able to tag about 6 of them. We have increased our tagging program and have tagged over 800 this year and are still tagging in Jan. We still have milkweed as now we have over 1,000 feet of planted beds. We also found a Euclyptus grove bordering the bolsa chica wetlands where some of our tagged butterflies have been seen.
Editor's note: We have dated this report 01/01/11 to show up on this year's map.
