Anna's hummingbirds have been hanging out in my garden all winter long--even when the temperatures dropped into the teens. Of course, I kept their feeders filled and the nectar liquid.
For some reason, they were very hungry today, though the temperature dropped to only 26°F last night. I had to top up the feeders several times--all eighteen of them. (A male Anna's is hovering outside my window right now, as I'm typing this--doesn't he know it's getting too dark for little birds to be out?)
They have been very active for the last several days. I wonder if they're getting ready to breed early?
