Third Graders discovered this Monday, January 31, that our tulips have emerged approximately 1 inch above ground. Tulips from a previous year's planting also emerged and are at least 3-4 inches tall. Questions were asked, why were those in the ground taller, and those in the raised bed not as tall? Is the soil in the ground warmer than the raised bed soil? We used our probes and discovered that the ground soil was just slightly warmer. Next question was, why?
