I was shocked to see my first robin of the year (a male) on the roof of my house on February 2nd, 2011, the day after a blizzard which was the 3rd largest snowstorm ever recorded in Chicago. His feathers were ruffled as he sat in the sun trying to keep warm. This is by FAR the earliest I have ever seen a robin and even more curious that he appear the day after a blizzard!
