For the past 4-5 years I have had Anna's hummingbirds in my yard all year 'round. During the winter months, I have anywhere from 2 to 4 regulars (possibly more). I currently have an alpha male who works hard at guarding "his" feeder from other hummers. He gets very aggressive during severe weather. I have placed a 2nd feeder on the opposite side of my house to give the other hummers a chance to feed.
I am currently seeing less activity at the feeders - I assume something "in the wild" has begun to bloom and the hummers are feeding there more than at the feeders. This is a pattern I see at this time of year.
