Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/29/2010

Number: 1

Five Edgecombe County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers, along with the County Horticulture Agent and 4-H Agent helped 23 students plant Red Emperor Tulip bulbs in Karen Pfaendler's 1st grade class. The students shivered as they planted on a cool, breezy winter day in Eastern North Carolina. I worked with the students to make sure the bulbs were planted "pointed end up" and to the proper depth. After we finished planting, the students helped to spread mulch and put concrete edging around the bed. The students were very proud of the bed they had created and each of the three classes thought their individual bed was the best.
