Taps placed in sugar maples on Jan 17. We had no "January thaw" this year, so there might have been a day here and there in January warm enough for sap to flow, but I didn't even check the buckets until Feb 3. I'm guessing there was 2 or 3 days worth of sap in the buckets. Not a heavy flow, but enough to collect. We've been having 1 or 2 day runs of sap, followed by 1 or 2 days of no sap. As long as the nights stay below freezing and the days are in the upper 30s (with sun) or 40s (with or without sun), the sap should continue to flow.
