About a dozen robins were eating berries on a large native holly this morning. It was fairly cold (about 40 F) and raining. They appeared to be part of much larger mixed flock (blackbirds, grackles, etc.) that was feeding on the ground within about 100 feet. Whenever the larger flock left, the robins feeding on the holly left. When the flock returned, the robins returned to the tree. It certainly seemed like the robins were part of the mixed flock, but with different eating patterns.
