One of the first things I do every morning this time of year, is look to see if my Eastern Screech-Owl is sitting in the opening of an owlhouse we made. A pair are using this box for the 4th year. This morning there were numerous birds in a near tree trying to give the owls a hard time with their screeching. There were blue jays, cardinals, titmouse, juncos, nuthatch, chickadee and most amazingly a pair of Eastern Bluebirds! The bluebirds were the most agressive flying at the opening in the box. I'd love to have them nest here but we're too closed in with trees. At least I got to see them for a short time! We're thinking of getting a camera for the house next year before they take up residence. Funny how this is one of the few times I see different kinds of birds band together with a single purpose :)
