Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/16/2011

Number: 1

This week in Panama City,FL has been active. Large groups of Robins (100-300) have passed thru each day, stopping during the day to feed on the ground and in the natural berry bushes/trees. Our weather this week has finally reached the 70's up during the middle of the day, so ground bugs and worms have been increasing. Then, late in the evening, almost at dusk, I can stand in my back yard and listen to the swell of the 1 single whistle (tweet), and watch as hundreds of Robins take off into the night air, headed north/northeast from Panama City, towards Dothan,AL and Thomasville,GA. Not sure how far they are going before stopping the next morning, but this morning(Thurs,Jan17), I passed to wooded/grassy neigborhood lots that were still filled with feeding Robins. The groups have gotten smaller in the last 3 days, probably more in the 100-200 range instead of the 400-500. But the setting dusk sky is still filled as Robins at a higher altitude are still leaving our area.
