Tulips EMERGED

Date: 02/17/2011

Number: 1

Ms.O'Neill's third grade class, 3A, observed that 16 of their tulips have emerged! We only need 7 more to emerge. One of the tulips appeared to be opening. The smallest one was 1 cm tall and the tallest 7 cms tall. The adjectives students used to describe them were; burnt, brown, looks like ashes, smooth, green, damp, leafy, light red, okra looking, peas in pod, waxy, yellow, pointy tips. Students noticed dark patches on two of the emerging tulips and are wondering if there will be more. Could it be mold? The soil was very damp so perhaps the dark spots are from that.
