Tulips EMERGED

Date: 02/17/2011

Number: 1

Ms. McComas' third grade class, 3D, observed that 14 of the 23 tulips have emerged! The shortest tulip was 1 cm tall and the tallest was 10 cms. Students used the following adjectives to describe their tulips; hollow, waxy, slimy, hard, pointy, light green, green, red, white, white tipped, brown, purple, yellowish, sticky, colorful, big, small, weird, gooey splotchy. One student thought they looked like ears of corn! On some tulips there were white and brown patches. The very damp soil appeared to be infested with aphids. Perhaps this will mean we'll get lots of ladybugs.
