Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/23/2011

Number: 1

1815 100's of 1000's of red breasted birds seen for several miles black cloud of them heading N/NE Cloud of birds could be seen as far away as I95 stretching to the Indian River. Only a few stopped to rest at top of Oak. Were timid but, with binoculars seemed to be Robins or Orchard Orioles. Inflight they were sqwuaking at each other, none stopped to eat as a small flock ate worms in back yard 1-2 weeks ago. These were not singing, only heard their wings and they were flying very recklessly! There were so many, could not tell what they were it was dusky and all I could make out was the darkness of them with white chevrons mid wings. I have never seen so many birds migrating all at once, and only a scant few stopping high in one treetop. Did anyone else see this huge amount of Robins? this evening. My husband saw what he says was even more a thicker black cloud of same type of bird(robins) yesterday am 0645. Please write in if anyother Central/South Brevard County folks saw this huge wave of birds.
