Hummingbird expert Lanny Chambers announced the news: The first confirmed migration sightings of spring 2011 have just been reported! Two male ruby-throated hummingbirds appeared yesterday morning (2/25/11) on the Gulf coast in Panama City Beach, Florida.


"Here's the first 2011 migration report I'm confident is true. It was forwarded by a hummer bander who specializes in Florida's winter visitors," said Lanny Chambers.




"One of my hummer hosts in Panama City Beach had two adult male Ruby-throated hummers show up at their flowers this morning. First report I have received," said the hummingbird bander who specializes in Florida's winter hummers.
