On January 14 at my home in Friendswood (77546), I had about 20 good size Monarch caterpillars still eating my larval plants. I had covered them all during the cold spell that week, and when I pulled the sheets off, the caterpillars had all crawled up onto the sheets and I had to relocate each one to leaves. Ive been tending to them almost daily, as they have eaten all the main plant leaves and Ive had to continue to relocate the remaining few caterpillars to other stray plants around the yard. I did watch one butterfly emerge from a chrysalis about a week after that date. Been having trouble seeing where the rest of the chrysalis are. Hope after this current cold spell (2/2) there will still be some emerging from chrysalis. As of this morning, Im afraid there isnt much nectar or larval food sources left.
