Spring is really springing here along the midcoast of Texas. We've been out and have located three different species of native milkweeds that are already sprouting to at least six inches from here on the bay to 75 miles inland. Corn is being planted here and in neighboring Victoria County. Some of the shade trees up and down the street will be providing at least 50% shade this week ... mostly Arizona ash and White ash. We have two hummingbird feeders up ... we haven't seen any, but friends have told us they have hummers visiting. We bought bedding plants to start putting in when we can get out this week. Altus has already mowed the back yard, totally green with bermuda and StAugustine, and needs to do the front plus we have seed to sow. Our backyard milkweed, curassavica, is sprouting after the hard freeze the beginning of Feb. Sounds too much like spring tomorrow!
