Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/28/2011

Number: 1

I saw approximately 30 to 50 robins again feasting on pear berries on my 40 foot flowering pear tree in the afternoon. I noticed that there seemed to be a majority of male birds in this wave. I also want to note that there were winter storms in the area two days prior to the sighting, as was the case at my last sighting in January. Robin sightings have been rare in this area of the high desert until the past few years as the new growth flowering pear trees have matured and have grown large and are bearing abundant berries. The City of Palmdale planted numerous flowering pear trees in our area in the late 1980's. Plant the trees and the birds will come!
