Bald Eagle

Hi. I am at a winter rental on Pine Island and there are 2 eagles in a nest on the St. James Harbor that I watch every day. Approximately 2.5 weeks ago 2 babies hatched and now they are spreading their wings in the nest. I am enjoying watching the parents bring food to them and keep watch over the "babies". I was told there are 19 pairs of eagles on the island. Also a neighbor told us that last year there was a different female in the nest and one day the new female arrived and there was an awful fight resulting in the death of the first female. The second female is the mother of the babies. I found this news disturbing; but I am enjoying the beauty of the family in that tall Australian Pine Tree! Thanks for the informative site.
