Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 03/03/2011

Number: 1

Ms. O'Neill's third grade class, 3A, observed today that out of 20 emerged tulips 7 have bloomed! (a total of 23 were planted) It is a sunny and windy day here in Charleston with a temperature of 57 degrees. The tallest blooming tulip is 17 cms and the shortest one is 11 cms. Adjectives students used to describe the tulips were; colorful, delicate, sticky petals, smelling sweet and bitter, dark and bright red blooms, small, pollinated, green, smooth, and waxy leaves. Interestingly, two tulips had leaves with holes in them and one tulip emerged despite not having a protective outer layer (skin).
