Leaf-Out (Any Species)

Numerous stalks of poison hemlock, the first green plant of the season, are up and growing at Winterhaven Farm. I report this because it is a host plant for several varieties of swallowtail butterfly. Poison hemlock is a highly toxic non-native plant in the carrot family. It is dangerous, even deadly, to humans and mammals.
