Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/09/2011

Number: 1

At 9:00 this morning we went outside to check our tulip bed. It was cold, overcast and very damp. The air temperature was 34 degrees F. The Soil temperature was 35 degrees F. We decided to scrape away our mulch (and the animal droppings) and discovered what we have been waiting for all winter! Four 1-2 inch yellowish looking sprouts. The yellow color made them stand out against the brown soil. We think they are yellow either because of the animal droppings or because they were covered with mulch and could not get sunlight.
