I saw our first Ruby-throated hummer today. I opened my front door about 5 P.M. to go out and do some yard work and saw a bird fly off. At a glance, it looked small enough to be a hummer; but, I wasn't sure. After I finished working in the yard, I sat on the front porch talking with my dad on the phone and...a male hummer came to one of our feeders. I saw him several more times before dark. He was absolutely beautiful! It seems like an eternity from when they leave 'til they return.
