Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/13/2011

Number: 1

Altus and I saw our first faded monarch at 1:05 today. We were out in the backyard counting plants that survived the freeze.
The monarch came outside our fence from the south and tried twice to enter the backyard on the north side. Altus was out in the middle of the yard about ten feet away from it, I was about twenty feet away yelling "MONARCH, MONACH!" ... she turned and saw a faded monarch with notch out of a wing ... I saw a faded monarch but too far to determine sex. After all that I guess we scared it away, but will sit inside with camera, watching the grass grow and clouds pass overhead until I get to photograph it or another one!

Temp 78 dF, wind 17 mph SSE, cloudy, wind shift coming thru
from the west with a low near Eagle Pass, 50% change of a
shower. We could really, really use a shower of rain in central and south Texas ... the wildflowers and milkweed would really appreciate it!!!
