Somehow I knew this would be the day I would spot the first Robin in my yard. The temperature is around 0 Degrees Celsius, the sun is strong and warm, there are many green patches melted through the snow around the trees, and the Red-winged Blackbirds showed up a couple of days ago. To me the true bird indicator of spring is the Red-winged Blackbird and their distinction call.
