All Other Signs of Spring

Spotted/heard small flock of Sandhill cranes tittering and swirling in a thermal high up over west side of St. Croix River Valley moving north by northwest in late a.m. Several hundred feet below them were a mature pair of bald eagles, the first time we viewed a mating pair together since nesting season recently began. Bare hillsides reveal ground animals have girdled many small trees and shrubs under our heavy snopack, which is rapidly diminishing in today's 50 degree weather as our area sandbags for major flooding ahead.
