Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/17/2011

Number: 1

We finally noticed that our tulips have emerged. We have two different gardens set up. One garden has tulips that have already grown taller than the tulips in the other garden. We hypothesize that this is happening because one of the gardens is slightly shaded from a nearby tree. We think that the shade is causing slower growth from the tulips that are planted in that garden. The tulips in the shaded garden are emerging, but at a slower rate then the garden receiving full sunlight. We have also observed that the tips of the emerged tulips are a slight reddish color. We are wondering why. Our class is very excited to see this first sign of Spring!
