Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 03/18/2011

Number: 1

I observed the adult female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird necturing at my sugar-mixture feeders. I had believed that all of them had already migrated further North, however, she apparently is hanging around a little longer. I do have a good food supply here; Powder Puff Bush, Lantana, Honeysuckle, etc., so maybe she'll make a nest somewhere in my neighbor's oak and stay for the summer. I have not seen any males this season, however, so whether or not she stays is yet to be determined.
