Having seen my first robin this morning, Whoopee!, and having heard a frosty forecast for tonight, I went outdoors to see if moving a couple of pots and baskets to reveal slightly warmer, damp earth might help this poor guy find some more earthworms.
It worked. When I came back an hour later, he was patrolling those areas and diving into them with gusto. Anybody wanting to help o hungry first robin, and having not cleaned up too thoroughly last fall, could do the same and open an earthworm lunch counter. Bon appetit.
