Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/15/2011

Number: 1

Craig Hill students saw sprouts that were reddish, green or purplish. On March 15th the shoots were as small as 1/2 inch, but by March 18th some were as big as 2-3 inches! Some shoots were spiral-shaped. Shoots in the sun were bigger and more green. We wonder if the taller greener ones are greener because of the sunlight. Plants make their own food from the sun with a process called photosynthesis.

Some predictions were that we will see flowers emerging in April and some predictions mentioned May or June.

As you can see it's cool to see our bulbs emerge, and we can't wait to see them bloom!

P.S. We saw some long slimy worms, too, but we know they're good for the soil.
