Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/22/2011

Number: 1

Didn't see any yesterday, but the wind was blowing a Gale out of the SE. Went out early this morning and found fifteen Monarch larvae hatchlings on the Asclepias curassavica plants on our deck. There were still a dozen eggs but that means we're missing almost twelve from the over three dozen I counted Saturday. There has been a Milkweed Assassin Bug that has been getting some Ladybug larva ... I found four of their carcesses on leaves this morning ... I moved it across the yard ... carefully.
