Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/25/2011

Number: 1

I have been looking for the red wing blk. bird for awhile. Today was the first one I seen this yr.. It was the only Red Wing black bird in with a flock of 10 Grackles and 3 Starlings. They have been feeding at the suet feeders over the last few days and I only saw 1 Red Winged Blackbird once even tho the same size flocks have been here repeatedly. I also noticed the "regular" Robins hanging out next to the Grackles and Starlings. The Robin was in the grass under each of the 2 suet feeders picking at the soil similar to say the Cardinal or Junco. All the birds and Squirrels appear to be very hungry judging from the activity and frequency as spring weather this week is more like winter.
