Maple Syrup (FIRST Sap Run)

Date: 03/26/2011

Number: 1

Sap has flowed on an off for almost a month in the Upper St. Croix Valley area, but recent cold weather and snow have once again turned off the budding trees. This week noted MT blue plastic sack bags hanging limply in a grove of maples along a county road in Stillwater Township. The unusual spring has sand bags still piled on pallets in the flood areas and Northwestern Minnesota in the Moorhead area bracing for record high runoff once things warm up in April.
