Driving from Helena to Missoula at the very end of January, I saw a staggering number of bald eagles. SEVENTEEN!!! I have lived in Montana most of my life and driven this road countless times. It's common to see 3 - 4 baldies on this drive. Six to seven is exciting but not shocking. Seventeen felt other worldly... as if the road had turned to butterflies and flown away. If anyone knows anything about why this might be, please share! melbangs@earthlink.net
