Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/01/2011

Number: 1

This afternoon I saw our first monarch of the season here at our house. It was in the yard flying towards the pasture of wildflowers behind the barn, flying fairly low, and meandering as if it were nectaring.

It was faded.

I haven't found any milkweek up in our pastures yet, which I think might be because of the drought. So far this year, there are less wildflowers than usual.
