In April of 2009, our school, Atholton Elementary, planted a beautiful native habitat garden so our local critters have somewhere to hang out! We have Butterfly Weed, an Eastern Redbud tree, Summer Sun, Hyssop, Purple Coneflower, Red Cardinal Flower, Inkberry, Blue Cardinal Flower, Black-Eyed Susan, Autumn Joy, Summer Sun, Rudbeckia nitida, White Turtlehead, Coreopsis rosea, and, Winterberry Holly. Our garden is beautiful, and we use it for learning about the importance of native plants during science. We look forward to seeing many Monarchs as they arrive this spring. You can see a photo of our garden on the header of Atholton's electronic Green School portfolio website: http://aesisgreen.weebly.com/
