Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/04/2011

Number: 1

This report is from my mom, Karen. She wrote:

Diane, You wanted to know when I see the first hummingbird. I was talking to Beverly and looked as I saw the bird. He is so thin. I put out the feeder Saturday, April 2, and if you remember I have it on a upside red planter. Yesterday, April 3, we had real high winds and when I got up it had been blown to the deck. I filled it at 10:00 a.m. (on April 4) again and then we started working in the yard until the storm came which was just hard rain here. I saw the bird at about 1:00 p.m. (on April 4) It was in the 70 degrees all night and at 7:00 a.m. it was still 71*. When the rain came through it dropped fast now its 59* and falling.
